The First International CSPP/IAPPS Symposium on New Management Strategies for Insects and Diseases of Rice will be held on Oct. 25-26 in Beijing, China.

In conjunction with the 2012 annual meeting of the China Society of Plant Protection (CSPP), CSPP and the International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences (IAPPS) are co-sponsoring the first international joint symposium to discuss many urgent rice insect and disease management problems that threaten global food security.

We have invited 20 world experts in the field of rice pest management to give plenary and session talks (see their names on the symposium website). They will present up-to-date results, cutting edge solutions and opinions on the sustainable management of rice insects and diseases that will be of interest and value to pest management specialists globally.

Beijing is one of the most famous cities in the world and home to some of China’s most outstanding sights and temples. Pre- or post-tours will be arranged for all the participants and their family members/companions to visit the Forbidden City, the Great Wall of China and the Summer Palace, whilst shopping and eating to your heart’s content. It is noteworthy to mention that October is the best time to visit Beijing because of the superb weather.

More information about the symposium will be shown on the CSPP website: http://www.ipmchina.net/cspp_2012/en/   or on the IAPPS website.
